About My Aged Care Registration
Who is eligible to become an approved My Aged Care provider in Australia?
Full-service companies with aged care experience are the typical applicants. Applicants will need to demonstrate that each key personnel in their business are appropriately qualiified, experienced and capable to undertake the role for a Registered Aged Care Provider business, and the Applicant will need to demonstrate the general experience the business has relevant to aged care service delivery. How to become an approved aged care service provider?
Applicants will need to prepare a suite of policies, forms and supporting documents that relfect the requirements for Application. They will then apply to the Commission for consideration of Registration, undertake auditing and any further review processes implemented by the Commission, and then once approved start working as a Registered Provider!
What are the new aged care rules for 2026?
From 1 November 2025, Australia’s aged care system commenced major reforms, including a new Aged Care Act focused on rights of Aged Care Individuals, and the launch of the Support at Home program. Support at Home replaces Home Care Packages, introducing 8 levels of funding classifications, significantly changing residential care fees, and implementing a “single provider’ model.
How much does it cost to become an aged care provider?
Fees payable to the Government:
$3,270 per Application
+ Category Fees ($ Per Category)
$1,270 for Categories 1-3
$3,800 for Categories 4-5
+ Audit Fee
$14,870 per Application.
Consultants will usually charge their independent fee on top of these Government fees.
What are the three main categories of assistance in aged care?
The three main types of aged care services are Home Care, providing support to live independently; Residential Care, for those needing 24/7 support in a facility; and Assistive Technologies and Home Modifications (AT-HM), which enables Individuals to access specialised products, assistive technologies and a variety of home modifications.
